March 23, 2017 - Alexandra Bruell of WSJ writes: Ad giant Interpublic Group of Cos will boost its investment in data and make it easier for all of its agencies to tap into the data resources in its media agency network, the company said.
As part of the effort, the company has named Arun Kumar [pictured, left] chief data and marketing technology officer for media agency umbrella group IPG Mediabrands. IPG will also invest tens of millions of dollars to create a more central data and technology infrastructure, an increase over past investments, a company spokesman said.
“We’ve previously stated that Mediabrands is the place where we will further invest behind our already-considerable data and analytics capabilities, so as to develop a data stack and platform that can serve all of our agencies,” said Michael Roth [pictured, right], chairman and CEO of Interpublic, in a statement.
Mr. Kumar, who is currently global president of Mediabrands’ digital ad-buying group Cadreon, will continue to oversee Cadreon while taking on the larger role.
