Unilever & Twitter sponsor the I-COM Data Science Hackathon
I-COMis excited to announce that Unilever and Twitter are sponsoring the 2nd edition of the I-COM Data Science Hackathon. The Hackathon will be hosted from April 15th - 17th, 2016 by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). It will center around a real-life marketing challenge on the cutting edge of Smart Data Marketing, the ability to identify trends using Twitter data.
Rick van Yperen (Innovation Lead, Unilever, UK) comments “By exploring the increase of hashtag usage on Twitter, Unilever has been able to identify major trends which have taken place. This is an interesting capability, however it is far more interesting to be able to identify future trends. Knowing future trends will unlock possibilities to increase media efficiency and gives guidance to our product development and innovation.”
"Twitter data provides a lens into what the whole world is thinking about any topic at any time," said Chris Moody, VP of Data Strategy at Twitter. "We're excited to be partnering with I-COM and Unilever to help marketers and data scientists work together to explore the immense power of Twitter data as part of the hackathon."
