Who can Enter?
The I-COM Data Science Hackathons are aimed at companies and universities active in data science as well as students entering independently. For entrants, there are two different tiers to choose from:
|ENTRANTS||REQUIRED EXPERTISE LEVEL|
|Tier 1||Team comprised of Master Scientists||Seasoned scientists that have advanced skills in Data Science|
|Tier 2||Team comprised of Scientists (incl. Mentors)
Student(s) entering independently
|Entrants with a limited amount of experience in Data Science|
Entrants can be from any company engaged in marketing, any university with qualifying applicants or a joint team comprised of the two above categories. Students can also enter, independently.
Every company/university can send a team from 2 up to 4 people, not including mentors. Single member applications are not possible.
I-COM is highlighting the importance of gender-balanced teams competing in the Data Science Hackathons, an area that has long been male-dominated.

Tier 1 is intended for seasoned scientists that have advanced skills in Data Science;
Tier 2 is intended for people with a limited amount of experience;
Teams that compete in the Scientist Tier 2 (not Master level) can bring a mentor for their support;
Every company/university can send a team from 2 up to 4 people, not including mentors;
Single member applications are not possible.
