Rene Dechamps - Co-Founder, Competing on Privacy, Spain

Belgian by nationality, but Spanish at heart, René Dechamps is a fan of Lego and an international speaker, with an entrepreneurial spirit, which is why he has dedicated much of his time for over 15 years to being an internet entrepreneur.

René has been working in the international arena, combining data measurement with strategy and the management of clients. Currently he’s working for his own company Competing on Privacy while being I-COM Vice Chair for Spain.

For few years he tested intrapreneurship, first by taking the role of Director of Data Science and Analytics at Neo@Ogilvy in Madrid, where he built and managed a team of specialists to support the agency and its clients in helping them stitching data together and making it actionable. Then he moved to BBVA where he was Analytics Senior Director.

René was the CEO and co-founder of Mind Your Group (MYG), an online strategy consultancy offering web analytics, social media, reputation, online privacy, digital optimization, Social CRM and Marketing Automation, handling projects for both European and US clients (Zara, Repsol, Fundación Telefónica, Iberdrola, National Geographic, Sanitas, Bank of Tokyo, etc.)

Before setting up MYG, he founded OX2 with his wife, Aurélie Pols, an interactive agency with a department specialised in analytics services that Forrester nominated as one of the leading European firms in the field of web analytics and digital marketing. After five years of hard work, the agency Digitas-LBi (now part of Publicis) bought OX2. Some of the clients they worked for included Bayer Worldwide, Philips, Bridgestone Europe, Bikkembergs, RTL Group, Toyota Europe and Nestlé.

René has been addicted to the internet ever since he had his first internet connection at home in ‘95, and his Politics degree, his Master’s in eBusiness and his love for languages had helped him gain a global perspective.

He devotes some of his time to cooking, taking refuge in the kitchen to experiment and switch off for a while from the digital world.
