Karen leads Acxiom’s global data product division with responsibility for data product strategy and the expansion of Acxiom’s data capabilities across global markets and across the digital ecosystem.

Karen’s expertise lies in the design, development, and implementation of customer targeting and engagement strategies. Karen has deep experience across all aspects of the data ecosystem and is an expert on the nuances and complexities of the global data landscape.

Before joining Acxiom Karen was Vice President of Global Data Solutions at Merkle where she focused on expanding Merkle’s data solutions into new global markets as well as working with clients to expand their CRM strategies across geographies. Prior to that, she held multiple roles in Europe and the Americas with ICLP - the global loyalty agency - gaining significant on-the-ground experience across EMEA, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and North America.

Ruben Cuevas, PhD - Assistant Professor, Telematic Engineering Department, UC3M, Spain

Dr. Ruben Cuevas is currently Assistant Professor at the Telematics Engineering Department at University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M). Previously he was Courtesy Assistant Professor in the CIS Department at University of Oregon (US) and Research Visitor in the Internet Scientific Group at Telefonica Research Lab (Spain).

He obtained his PhD and MSc in Telematics Engineering and MSc in Telecommunications Engineering at University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain). Furthermore, he received his MSc in Network Planning and Management at Aalborg University (Denmark).

Ruben's main research interests include Privacy, Fraud Detection and Personalisation in Online Advertising, Online Social Networks and Internet Measurements.

He is co-author of more than 50 papers in prestigious international journals and conferences such as IEEE Infocom, ACM CoNEXT, WWW, IEEE/ACM TON, IEEE TPDS, PlosONE or Communications of the ACM. He has been the PI of 6 research projects funded by the EU H2020 and FP7 programs, the National Government of Spain and private companies and associations. Overall Rubenparticipated in more than 15 research projects.

Ran Zfoni - CEO/Co-Founder, mmuze ecommerce, Israel

Ran Zfoni is the Co-Founder and CEO of mmuze, an award-winning big data startup that predicts and translates social trends to sales.

Ran is an experienced entrepreneur in the fields of data-driven products and international business. Ran is a digital marketing expert, he was hired to build the global services offering for MediaMind (acquired by DG / Now Sizmek) to enhance its market leadership and create incremental revenue stream, including the data services operations to support leading media agencies and advertisers marketing data requirements.

Ran also established MediaMind Research Center to deliver market insights and benchmarks leveraging the company’s global reach. Prior to that, Ran was VP R&D for SunGard (Now FIS), managing the global R&D organization to deliver big-data solutions for top US and European financial institutions operations and marketing needs.  

Ran holds a B.Sc in Computer Science with honors, and a Business Management certificate from New York University (NYU).

John Trenkle - Chief Scientist, TubeMogul, USA

As Chief Scientist, John Trenkle is responsible for leading TubeMogul's Machine Learning and Data Science teams. Under John's leadership, these teams streamline the company's big data pipeline by developing and implementing algorithms that power Campaign Optimization, Audience Segmentation, Auction-level Fraud Detection and Mitigation, Inventory Forecasting and Cross-Device Syncing. 

Prior to TubeMogul, John worked in defense contracting where he worked with the CIA, NSA, NASA, SpaceX and other government agencies. He has co-authored two academic publications, holds three separate patents and was awarded a full scholarship to Wayne State University where he received his degree in Electrical Engineering.

Emil Pawłowski - Business Development Director, Gemius, Poland

Emil Pawłowski is Gemius Business Development Directorwith extensive knowledge in online research and online market.

For over a dozen years now, Emil has been dealing with media (TV, the Internet) and advertising campaign research. As R&D Director at Redefine, one of the biggest Polish online TV publishers, he supervised the development of research projects.

His earlier career includes Nielsen and AGB, where he contributed to methodology and analytical tools development. He held the position of Gemius Methodology Director for over 2 years, being responsible for the development of research methodology products in the company’s offer.

Now, as a Chief Science Officer in Gemius, he introduces new innovative solutions and ideas to the digital marketing landscape. He graduated from Warsaw University, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics.

Elspeth Ritchie - Rakuten, Japan

Elspeth is the Innovation Analyst for Unilever’s People Data Centre. The PDC is an internal research group integrating a wide variety of data to answer market and brand questions: social, search, sales, survey, CRM, clickstream, brand equity measures, call lines, and more. Established in 2014, the PDC has grown rapidly and demonstrated the ability to act like a start-up within one of the world’s largest consumer goods providers. The role of Innovation Analyst within the PDC Capability Centre is split between evaluating new capabilities and internal builds to support the work of market- and category-facing PDCs.

Before joining the PDC, Elspeth was completing her doctoral thesis in Biopharmaceutical Process Development with Newcastle University, following a MEng in Chemical Engineering with Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

She also holds a typical millennial resume including video games journalism, a technology editorship, and being a founding co-editor-in-chief of Newcastle University STEM Magazine {react}.

Alexander Czernay - Senior Principal, Namics, Germany

Alexander Czernay is the Senior Principal for Namics.

Most recently, he was the Principal Insights and Data Consulting at Capgemini Consulting, where he lead a team of data scientists and business consultants focused on the marketing aspects of digital transformation. He is responsible for building omni-channel strategies that support the undelying business model and enable 1:1-marketing that guides customers along their journey with the brand.

Previously, Alexander has been with Razorfish as Head of Business Intelligence and Member of the Board, while also serving as a Member of the Global Data Science Practice Leadership Team at Publicis.Sapient. He built the German BI practice into a Center of Excellence, supporting the European agencies in the Publicis network. His team of data scientists successfully built award winning projects like UBS Planet Art (ubs.com/planetart) that purposefully integrated data sciences as the core of the overall experience.

Before Razorfish Alexander led tech teams and build the Analytics practice at the German digital agency SinnerSchrader. He manifested his entrepreneurial spirits building the digital music distribution platform deeep.net and the mobile marketing platform SBOW.

Kajal Mukhopadhyay, PhD - Co-Founder & Principal, mdrk Consulting, USA

Kajal Mukhopadhyay, often known as Dr. K, is the Co-Founder & Principal of mdrk Consulting, an independent boutique data and design consulting firm based in New York City. mdrk Consulting helps clients with data intelligence, data science, analytic solutions and data-driven products and designs. As a Co-founder, Kajal brings 15+ years of experience in media and digital analytics.

Most recently he was part of the Mindshare team from GroupM, where he had been a Managing Partner and Director of Live Audience, responsible for Audience Product Developments using big-data intelligence and machine learning algorithms.

Kajal was also Vice President of Performance and Measurement at Xaxis, where he developed, delivered and spearheaded Xaxis analytics products and practices, Xaxis media performance and measurement solutions including audience insights and optimization, cross-channel attribution, brand impact and research studies.

Lauri Ilison is the Head of Big Data and Machine Learning expert at Nortal. He has 15 years background in Business development connected to IT solutions. In 2001, he transitioned to Data Science, specializing in predicting consumer behavior such as transaction fraud (Dell Computer, PayPal, Sears), donations (St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital) and customer response (Mercedes, Los Angeles Times, AOL).

Ian Liddicoat is the Global Chief Information Officer and Head of Data Sciences at Zenith Optimedia based in London. Konstantin Tretjakov currently works as a researcher at the University of Tartu, participating in various data-centric projects, teaching related courses, supervising students, organising informatics olympiads and popularising computer and data science in general.

Konstantin has extensive experience in a wide range of fields ranging from bioinformatics or social network analysis to music information retrieval or robotics. Maintaining a hacker attitude, Konstantin both participate and contribute regularly to software hackathons in Estonia.

Among other things, he received the third prize at the international "Big Data competition" TEXATA (the final round of which was also essentially a hackathon).

Wes Chaar is the Chief Data & Analytics Officer of Catalina.

Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Analytics, Data and Decision Sciences at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.

Wes attained his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. He has more than 20 years of expertise in the Analytics, Data and Decision Sciences fields. Saeed Bagheri (PhD) is currently the Head of Global Data and Analytics Product and R&D at GroupM. Saeed looks after all data and analytics related products globally from inception (requirement gathering) all the way to deployment, training and maintenance. Some of the key products are Data Marketplace, Analytics Workbench, Attribution, MMM and Live Audience. In his R&D remit, Saeed acts both as R&D technical content manager as well as R&D people manager for all GroupM R&D hubs globally.

Prior to his current role, he was at Philips Research leading the Global Healthcare Services Innovation Topic as well as North America Services Cluster till Aug. 2013 when he joined GroupM.

Saeed started his professional career at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. He received his B.S. from Sharif University of Technology in 2004. Later that year he attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology for his graduate studies, where he graduated with two M.S. and a Ph.D. in 2007 majoring in Optics and Optimization. He has more than 50 refereed published articles and conference papers in academic world as well as 50+ granted or pending patent applications globally. Saeed lives in Westchester County, NY with his wife and daughter.

Paul Martin is VP of Analytics at Xaxis where he leads both analytics innovation and delivery, especially in audience targeting and insight. He has worked in the marketing analytics industry for over 15 years where he has held regional and management roles at Accenture, Aimia (formally Loyalty Management), and T-Mobile. He holds a MSc. and BSc. in Physics from the University of Auckland and a MBA from the Open University.

Lauren S. Moores, PhD - VP Data Strategy and Data Sciences, Indigo, USA

Lauren Moores is a data geek and strategist who uses dirty, disparate data to optimise business practices with relevant metrics and insightful stories. She has over 25 years in data strategy, data science and data creation in various information and tech industries, including a PhD in Economics from Brown University.   

Lauren is currently the VP, Data Strategy and Data Sciences at Indigo, a precision agriculture startup focused on innovative solutions of biostimulants in seed coating and tools of precision agriculture in partnership with farmers.  Her focus at Indigo is to combine emerging agronomy and other data with data science to provide new information products.

Lauren's previous roles include a focus on information services, behavioral insights and advertising technology platforms.  Most recently, Lauren ran data analytics and data strategy at Tala, a global fintech startup that transforms mobile behavioral and transactional data to provide financial identities to the underserved in emerging economies.  

Prior to Tala, Lauren served as VP, Strategy for Dstillery, a cross-device digital intelligence platform, and Chief Science Officer for EveryScreen Media, a mobile RTB and audience technology company acquired by Dstillery. Prior to EveryScreen, Lauren managed the science, data assets and data engineering teams at WPP's Kantar Compete, building large, global, multi-sourced digital consumer research panels and consumer analytics.

Krassimir Kostov, PhD - Manager, Cognizant Analytics, Japan

Krassimir Kostov is a Manager at Cognizant Analytics, Cognizant Technology Solutions. Leveraging the company’s global capability, he helps leading multi-national and Japanese clients solve important business challenges by deriving value from data. As a Senior Data Scientist, his duties involve management consulting of C-level clients, as well as hands-on design, execution, and implementation of strategic Advanced Analytics solutions. Some examples include: customer acquisition, growth and retention, multi-channel marketing optimization, operations and efficiency optimization. Most recently, he was the Director of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence of PwC Europe.

Previously, he was the visionary mastermind at SUPERCRUNCH by GfK, where he blended analytical expertise, data savviness, business sense and more years than he’d admit consulting numerous Fortune Global 500 companies in marketing analytics. Being a passionate number cruncher throughout his entire career he never lost focus on the one big vision: to move Data Science to the centre of the stage.

Previously, Norbert worked for GfK Group, as Global Head of Data and Sciences and was in charge of GfK’s Marketing and Data Sciences capabilities, data landscape and strategy. 

Amit Phansalkar - Chief Data Officer, Apptopia, USA

Amit is the Chief Data Officer and member of the executive team at Apptopia, a mobile data company.

Prior to this, Amit co-founded and was the CEO of Netra Systems, a machine vision company creating intelligence from online images in social media.

Prior to Netra, Amit was the Chief Data Officer for Massmutual, where he was responsible for the vision and data strategy for consumer data.

Amit has more than 20 years of experience building data products and businesses and served as the global director of data sciences and advanced analytics at Millward Brown digital. Prior to that, he was a co-founder with a successful exit at Cognika. Amit began his career in systems biology following graduate work at Los Alamos labs. He has 4 data science patents and over 20 peer reviewed publications to his name. 

In addition, Amit is the co-founder and principal at BotLab.io, a non-profit organization that focuses on security and fraud challenges in digital advertising. He has also served as the founding chair of I-COM Data Science Board. 

Armel Bursaux - EVP, Publicis Spine D&A Lead EMEA, Publicis Groupe, France

Armel Bursaux is EVP, Publicis D&A Lead EMEA of Publicis Groupe.

He employs his scientific skills hand in hand with his technology and marketing acumen to develop and promote data-driven business for Publicis. Armel is a French scientist and has worked in algorithmic and artificial intelligence based systems for shape recognition. From Orange where he worked in R&D he then became involved in the international programme on Communication Services and Advertising, implementing one of the first Exchange and Data management platforms in Western Europe. Later, Armel moved to Starcom France, creating the Data & Analytics department, and progressively took the lead for the D&A practice in EMEA for Starcom and then for Publicis Media. Within Publicis new structure, Armel is leading D&A community for Europe for Publicis the Groupe.

Armel is an alumnus of the Ecole Centrale Paris with a degree in Applied Mathematics. His passions are jazz music, design and rebuilding mad houses in the south of France
